One time I had dinner with two other people and I asked them something along the lines of, “What kind of career would you had to work in a job that didn’t require a college education?” My first instinct was to choose the highest-paying job, but then I figured, oh well, might as well just follow my desires. So I chose “the person who makes things out of wood,” which apparently is a carpenter. I was immensely pleased because that’s like what Jesus was! I like making things. There’s such a sense of accomplishment in looking at what you’ve made when you’re finished with it. Must be how God feels about me. Wow. But I’m not finished becoming the person I will be just yet!
These days at the gym, I always get an elliptical that is positioned right by one of the televisions that has the Food Network on. I think that in terms of eating, I live vicariously through the Food Network. My favorite show so far is Tyler’s Ultimate. Go big or go home, right? Just kidding…sort of. I would really like trying to make some of the meals they put together. Some of them look so delicious! It’s almost like an art form and there’s that sense of accomplishment I almost feel for these people after they’ve finished making a dish.
I need to not be wishy-washy or lazy. I need to put on my cloak of humility with each rising day. Honestly, I need to study harder, to the point where before going to bed each night, I can feel like I’ve learned and accomplished something.
I need to live and love, to the point where before going to bed each night, I can feel like I’ve accomplished something for the Kingdom of God.
